Classic Film Styles for Capture One 2020 vs. 2017

Adobe Lightroom vs. Capture One has been an issue for years. What kept many of you from doing so was not only the other UI, but more importantly, the availability of presets, or styles, as Capture One is called. A lot of people relied on VSCO film presets for a long time, but there was a long lack of really good film styles available for Capture One. I am very grateful for the great praise I have received since 2017 and I am pleased that I was able to make the transition from Lightroom to Capture One easier for you. However, I couldn't promise you a largely identical look so far and therefore I have revised and extended the Film Styles for Capture One. I would like to show you some examples of what has changed and how the looks have changed. Above all I wanted to make the Film Styles look less digital. Capture One renders very detailed and produces perfect results. This sometimes makes it difficult when it comes to a look that is less perfect and needs more character. But in the end the result should still be commercially usable. This was not an easy task, but I am very satisfied. You see, there are some films that could benefit significantly. Only the Kodak Portra 400 film style didn't need that much work, but you know Kodak Portra always works best anyway.

  • Will these preset react the same way my digital camera as to yours? I use Fuji X-T3. I’m not sure what camera you used for the demonstration, but they look very good.

    Oun Huh
  • Are these redesigned for C1 specifically or are they mods from the 2107 set? Or stated differently, as these the same as those in the recent 2017 update?

I do see there are more films included in the 2020 version.

    Thank you.
